A few weeks ago I was invited by MINI Electric to join their launch of the first all-electric MINI. An exciting journey charged full of passion started when I arrived at Amsterdam Schipol Airport, were I was picked up by MINI to get to the heart of Rotterdam. After a quick break and a warm welcome I headed to experience a one of a kind „Welcome Dinner“ on a rooftop overviewing the whole city. From a perfectly set Barbecue to wonderful conversations with friends and the whole MINI Team, which I now consider family as I’ve been working with MINI for the past two years now and it was nothing short of an unforgettable time. I truly appreciate their way to think about the finest details – can we quickly talk about those cookies? Charged with Passion and Flavor, I’m telling you.
Passion is in the core of MINI and exactly what opened this new chapter of E-mobility, combined with MINI’s inventive spirit to change our urban life and creating an inspiring approach to make roads a little quieter, the air we breath cleaner and enabling a brighter and more energetic life than ever.
These three attributes are something I feel like I have in common with the all-electric MINI, hence I was excited to help launch it. Back in the day when I started with social media by posting my first youtube video in 2009 I had a passion for filmmaking that started a somewhat inventive way to use a platform such as youtube to inspire people around the globe, but also to help start my own career in social media which led to a rollercoaster of an exciting and energetic life. There are no boarders, except the ones we create around our self. This launch reminded me of that – passion will take you far and as for E-mobility it will do too, while having peace in your mind to create a sustainable future for our environment.
The next day started with a Press Conference on the all-electric MINI where Pieter Nota, Member of the Board of BMW AG for Consumer, Brands & Sales and Oliver Heilmer, Vice President MINI Design talked about the whole vision and design process behind the launch of the all-electric MINI. I truly love the fact that they kept the exact look of the MINI Hatch – which is playing to MINI Fans around the globe to go for this model as it will help to make our cities a more sustainable place. They didn’t try to make a huge statement on something that is radically electric, futuristic and different, rather they stayed true to familiar design elements.
After the reveal and the world Premiere I got to check out the all-electric MINI hands on and couldn’t resist to take a few shots with it. Loving the whole concept, the small details from the colors to fine design elements that make this all-electric MINI different.
Here are a few interesting stats about the all-electric MINI:
MINI Cooper SE*: Energy consumption in kWh/100 km combined: 16.8/14.8, Fuel consumption in l/100 km combined: 0, CO2 emissions in g/km combined: 0. The driving range depends on a variety of factors, especially: personal driving behaviour, selected route, weather conditions, usage of heating/cooling and preconditioning. *These figures are preliminary values and have not yet been confirmed. Subject to change. The values of fuel consumptions, CO2 emissions and energy consumptions shown were determined according to the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the version applicable at the time of type approval. The figures refer to a vehicle with basic configuration in Germany and the range shown considers optional equipment and the different size of wheels and tires available on the selected model. The values of the vehicles are already based on the new WLTP regulation and are translated back into NEDC-equivalentvalues in order to ensure the comparison between the vehicles. [With respect to these vehicles, for vehicle related taxes or other duties based (at least inter alia) on CO2-emissions the CO2 values may differ to the values stated here.] The CO2 efficiency specifications are determined according to Directive 1999/94/EC and the European Regulation in its current version applicable. The values shown are based on the fuel consumption, CO2 values and energy consumptions according to the NEDC cycle for the classification. For further information about the official fuel consumption and the specific CO2 emission of new passenger cars can be taken out of the „handbook of fuel consumption, the CO2 emission and power consumption of new passenger cars“, which is available at all selling points and at https://www.dat.de/angebote/verlagsprodukte/leitfaden-kraftstoffverbrauch.html.
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the brand new all-electric MINI. What are your thoughts on E-Mobility and what do you do to make life a little more sustainable.
Let me know in the comments. I can’t wait to read them.
